4th of July Weekend in Denver

If you aren’t fleeing the city for the sun, the sand or the mountains this weekend, you’re still in the perfect place to celebrate the 4th of July! Denver is home to 4th of July festivals, concerts, sporting events, fireworks and all kinds of other family fun and entertainment. Here are just a few ideas for your 4th of July stay-cation in Denver:

-Cherry Creek Arts Festival (July 4th – 6th): Located in the Cherry Creek North shopping and business district, between Columbine and Steele St., from 2nd to 3rd Ave. This  free, family friendly event will give guests the opportunity to meet and celebrate the work of the both local and world-wide visual, culinary and performing artists. -Park Hill 4th of July Parade (July 4th): Stretching from Dexter St. to Krameria St., last year’s parade included marchers, bikers, floats and classic cars. This year’s parade should be even bigger, with marching bands, acrobats and more floats! The Parade will start at 1:30 PM on Dexter St. between 23rd and Montview Blvd. (Website)

-Independence Day Strikes Back (July 4th): Join the Colorado Symphony and vocalist George Komsky at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater featuring the music of Star Wars and July 4th. (Website)

-Red Rocks Concerts (July 4th & 5th): Join Blue’s Traveler on the rocks on the 4th of July and Umphrey’s McGee on the 5th!(Website)

-Liberty 4-Mile Run (July 4th): Suit up in your best red, white and blue attire (prizes will be awarded for most patriotic garb!) and meet up at Washington Park bright and early. Celebrate and start 4th of July with 4 miles of fun! (Website)


-The Fifth Annual Independence Eve Celebration (July 3rd at Civic Center Park) In addition to the marvelous fireworks finale, the celebration will present a free concert by MIX (CU Denver’s award-winning a capella group), the Hazel Miller Band, and the Denver Municipal Band. Rockies vs. L.A. Dodgers at Coors Field (July 3rd & 4th): Bring the family out to watch the Rockies take on the Dodgers and stick around after the game for a brilliant fireworks show. (Website)

– Outlaws vs. Boston Cannons at Sports Authority Field (July 4th): Catch a local lacrosse game and bask in the show of lights after the game. (Website)

-Rapids vs. Columbus Crew at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (July 4th): Still have World Cup fever?  Cure the need by cheering on the Rapids as they take on the Columbus Crew. Stay in your seats for the fireworks show after the game! (Website)
